History: Allspice occurs in the journal of Columbus’ first voyage in 1492, it was first thought of as a pepper.

Farming and harvesting: Allspice, the only spice grown exclusively in the Western Hemisphere, is indigenous to rainforests in South and Central America. 

Culinary Applications: Mixed spice and apple pie spice, curry powders, meat seasonings, jerk seasonings, pickling spices, pepper mill blends, master stock spices.

Storage and packaging: Store under cool, dry conditions in sealed containers.

Shelf Life: Product shelf life is dependent on storage conditions and is highly variable. Product should be stored under cool, dry conditions and in a humidity controlled environment. Industry standard for product is 24 months.

A must in chai! I use it in breakfast cereals and vegetable stews!
There are some really beautiful areas where allspice is grown as it needs rich soil and a lot of rain. Allspice is the bridge that ties together other spices in baked goods, curries, meats and marinades. Try some in the pepper mill! Definitely a foundational ingredient and our allspice will provide satisfaction to the discerning chef.
